The Agencies
City of Houston, Texas
HPD is the biggest department on the server and usually where most people start out. You're covering the city so calls are constant. Traffic stops, pursuits, disturbances, investigations. There's no shortage of stuff to do and no shortage of other officers to work with.
The department has a solid rank structure and a few specialized units that members can work toward over time. If you're new to the server or new to law enforcement RP in general, HPD is probably the right first step. You'll learn how things work here without getting thrown into the deep end on day one.
Harris County, Texas
Constable operates across the county precincts and handles a mix of patrol and civil process work. Stuff you won't see in HPD or HCSO. It's a more niche department and that's kind of the point. The people who join Constable usually have a specific interest in the county-level side of law enforcement RP.
The call volume is a bit lower than HPD but the variety of what you actually do is different. Worth considering if you've done the city patrol thing before and want something that feels a little different without going full state-level.
Harris County, Texas
HCSO covers the unincorporated parts of Harris County, the areas that fall outside of Houston city limits. Deputies handle patrol, assist other agencies on major incidents, and the department also runs court security and fugitive operations on the server.
HCSO tends to run a tighter ship than HPD. The command structure is strict, the SOPs are detailed, and the expectations are high. If you're the kind of person who actually prefers things to be organized and procedural you'll probably fit in well here. If you find that kind of environment frustrating, HPD or Constable might be a better match.
State of Texas
TXDPS is the state-level agency on the server. Troopers handle highway enforcement across the entire map, respond to major incidents, and work as a statewide resource when local departments need backup on something bigger than usual. The RP at this level is genuinely different from working city or county.
This department has stricter standards than most of the others. If you're applying to TXDPS as your first department with zero RP experience, it's probably not the right call. Not because you can't do it eventually, but because the learning curve is steeper and the department has less time to do extended onboarding. Build some experience first and then come here.
Texas Parks and Wildlife Department
Game Warden covers the stuff nobody else does. Parks, waterways, rural and outdoor areas on the outer parts of the map. Wardens handle wildlife enforcement, water safety, and general criminal law out in areas where no other department has real presence. In Texas, Game Wardens have full law enforcement authority statewide so the RP possibilities are pretty broad.
This department is genuinely different from the rest. If you've been doing standard patrol RP for a long time and want something that doesn't feel like the same calls over and over, Game Warden is worth a look. It's a smaller department, the community within it is tight, and the scenarios you run into are things you just won't encounter anywhere else on the server.
City of Houston, Texas
HFD is the fire and emergency services department on the server. Firefighters handle fire suppression, vehicle accidents, structure fires, and work alongside EMS on medical calls. It's a completely different experience from the law enforcement side of the server and honestly one of the more underrated departments we have.
If you've ever wanted to do RP that isn't just traffic stops and pursuits, HFD gives you something totally different. The calls are unpredictable, the teamwork aspect is heavy, and you'll be working closely with other departments on serious incidents. Worth a look if you want to stand out from the usual crowd.
